Qualified Adopters are now needed for older parrots and smaller species of birds.  

Foster Help

Sometimes A-Parrot is in need of  local (temporary) foster help.  You must own parrots now must live within a 20 minute driving distance of Brecksville, Ohio.  You must be able to pick up and see that a fostered bird is returned to A-Parrot at least one day before a tentative Adopter is coming to look at the bird.  We will need to interview you and then there is a very  detailed, legally binding, foster contract you will need to sign.   Thank you for your consideration!

 Is A-Parrot to A-Flamingo Tax Deductible?

A-Parrot to A-Flamingo Rescue is an Ohio-registered  non-profit organization.  Our  EIN number is available per request.  

We have  chosen not to take the 501C3 option.  Donations are not federally deductible. To clear up a common misconception, the IRS 501C3 classification has nothing to do with "honesty or reliability" of any organization.  The IRS is only a tax monitoring body.

The IRS allows 501C3 organizations to run raffles, apply for grants, do heavy solicitation for monetary donations, gives tax benefits to the organization, lets them give out receipts for your deductible donation, etc.  (A-Parrot cannot do this.)  

501C3 organizations usually have to pay high salaries, benefits, etc.  for their employees first, before any money goes to the cause at hand. (A-Parrot has no hired  employees, just volunteers)

501C3's usually have large office rental and larger office expense bills which will need to be paid prior to any money going to the cause at hand (birds) .  (A-Parrot's office expenses are very minimal, and our office is in our home.)

If you  need a tax receipt and wish to donate to a tax-deductible 501C3 organization, but  do not mind that most of your money will be distributed for salaries, employment benefits, rent, etc. to run the 501C3 non-profit organization first, before any money actually goes to the animals, that is your option.

If you prefer your monetary gift to go to a rescue organization dedicated to "animals first" --  then donating to A-Parrot to A-Flamingo Rescue, a non-501C3 organization, may be your best choice.

  Monetary Gifts are Appreciated

Since A-Parrot does not qualify for any government funds, grants, or subsidies, the only financial help we get is in the form of donations to our organization. 

Monetary gifts help A-Parrot to A-Flamingo Rescue to be  able to purchase seed/pellets/treats, pay for any necessary vet care for our rescues.  Purchasing food and the well-being of our rescues will always be our first concern!  Donations also assure us that  we are able to take in the next parrot in need.  Donations of seed, pellets, millet, and cuttlebone are  greatly appreciated too.
